Statement of Need/Program Overview

Managed care professionals are responsible for balancing the efficacy, safety, and cost of therapeutic interventions with member affordability and access to appropriate care. In age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a case-based approach to learning can be utilized to elucidate factors surrounding evidence-based diagnosis and treatment. This program traces the experiences of a provider and a 58-year-old female who presents with visual distortion and a worsening black central spot in the left eye as they journey from presentation to appropriate management. This educational format can be instrumental in learning about identifying appropriate drug coverage and optimizing outcomes.
